There are so many factors that contribute to the performance of solar lighting systems. What may work for someone in Jordan (the Middle East) may not work for someone in upstate New York. Lets look at some key factors that are overlooked many times when deciding to purchase Solar Lighting Systems.
There are a few basics that are a need to know when considering purchasing solar lighting systems. One, the more times your battery cycles (drains and refills) the shorter the life of the batter will be and it will need to be replaced more often.
Next, because of battery cycling, your geographic location plays a huge role in deciding whether or not solar lighting is right for you. If you are in an area that does has short days and/or many cloudy or rainy days then you need to be aware how this will affects battery cycling. If you are in a location like this you will need larger solar panels and more batteries. This is because more solar panels will charge your battery quick when sunlight is available. More batteries is necessary because the lower your battery drains before refill the shorter the battery life will be.
Not only is weather an important part, but so is the angle at which the sun hits the earth in your location. If you are higher in latitude than the sun does not hit the earth with as much concentrated energy. This means that solar panels cannot collect as much energy at higher latitudes. For this reason we use MPPT controller that maximize the amount of energy collected by the solar panels. Also you may want to consider more batteries or larger panels at higher latitudes.
Now for the lighting aspect. Many people think that solar lighting is inferior in terms of lighting quality to the standard street lighting systems. This is not the case. Many of our competitors use inferior products, smaller solar panels and fewer batters which causes them to use weaker lights not putting out the light quality ours produce. And if a competitor does use a similar light, their system life is very short because of the quality of Chinese parts are inferior to our proprietary parts within our system.
We have replaced many systems in the last 4 years as customers have found that our systems are much more reliable than our competition. Please see our product page for more information on our X-Series Commercial Roadway Lighting.
